-All logs are hand selected and hand peeled for the style and fit of the design being created to form a one-of-a-kind piece that will last a lifetime.

-We implement quality construction like:

*mortise and tenon joinery
*hidden fastening
*hand sanding & finishing
*bookmatched logs on certain projects

- We primarily build with Northern White Cedar and Eastern Red Cedar. However, we will build with any type of log you desire. Some of the other logs we use include are: White Pine, Norway Pine, Balsam Fir, Spruce and even some hardwoods like Oak, maple, Black Ash, and Aspen. Many of the logs we use have died and are already on the ground so they have gained a beautiful patina that is truly unique.

- Northern White Cedar is native to Minnesota, low in shrinkage, and therefore, very stable. It has a beautifully soft amber and white tone to the wood.

- Eastern Red Cedar is a truly “wild” wood with the red, amber, and white tones of its wood. It is also heavier and denser than white cedar.

- We specialize in tables, fireplace mantels, bar tops and bases, barstools, mirrors, and coat racks. However, we will listen to your ideas, to help you come up with most any item you wish.
“Checking” is when a crack is created in a log, and is normal when the log dries. This is a natural occurrence and common in all log furniture. Structural integrity of the finished piece is not in any way compromised.

The finishing process can be a variety of methods, depending on your wishes. The most popular processes are:

Oil based polyurethane (satin, semi-gloss, or gloss), hand rubbed oil, and 2 part high gloss bar finish.
Just call and we will help you determine the best method for your piece, as the end use determines the best type of finish
